How long it takes is a complicated question. I've seen people have a file work only once, and then I had another who had a trance trigger work years later. In general, the more distant the memory becomes the less effective it will be but you occasionally end up with one that gets stuck in your mind....

Frequency can be a personal thing, and if you want to listen it isn't going to harm you to do so. Personally I recommend 2-3 times a day at most but if you're itching to listen go for it. That may well be an indicator that a file is working.

Yes, the easiest way to do that is to click the x(hover = mark blocked) next to their name, it blocks their files from being listed when you do file listings.
