I should have said that a low rating based on a low number of votes certainly doesn't necessarily mean a poor file. I myself have been an early commenter and high rater of certain files which hadn't yet received any votes at all.

I've always found the ratings helpful in one respect: anything rated less than 4 is almost certainly not worth downloading. A high rating doesn't guarantee quality but a low rating is a fairly reliable indication of lack of quality.

People do occasionally use forum threads here as a theatre - there was someone a while back who claimed to be using one of the dog transformation files, and posted ever shorter and more canine remarks. It's all good fun until someone thinks they're being serious.

I would definitely find that useful. It is frustrating to log on to browse files and then remembering I have to read all new posts if I don't want to miss them. The next time I log on the 'new posts' will only be the ones made between now and then.
