Recording a File using Binaurals - help

I remember reading years ago about how you can record left and right at two different frequencies to make it more effective. Can anyone remind me what that was about and how to do it? I posted a free file yesterday and will make more, but want to make them as effective as can be :)

I seem to recall that it's basically the difference between the frequencies; so if you wanted 20 Hz, you could play one side at 20,000 Hz and the other at 20,020 Hz. But don't quote me on that :P

What I do is set up "Brainwave Generator" (shareware) with one of the great preset sessions it comes with, and record that (using Goldwave or Audacity or the like)... then overlay that track on whatever hypno stuff I'm listening to.
Of course you've gotta record in stereo or it won't work :P

It's really easy if you use Audacity (free, open source audio editor.) It's not installed on this computer so I can't walk you through it right now, but generally you have to split the stereo track into two seperate tracks and then use the pitch shift tool to raise or lower one by however many hertz the binaural frequency calls for. It's simple once you figure out what you're doing.
