No, the lake of fire does not really exist. Nothing in your mythology really exists, it is all just stories. Exactly the same as every other mythology throughout human history.
If there was an afterlife, and your lake of fire, the only people there would be christians. For starters few christians live their religion, they just talk about it. Then there all the criminals from deeply religious cultures. And of course the biggest reason, everyone else would be in their own afterlife. Yes that's right, if your afterlife was real everyone's afterlife would be real. So while christians roasted or sat at the feet of their Master, reincarnationists would keep living different lives, and people without religion but with lots of imagination would be gods.

Just wanted to say your forum postings lately have been really great, steph.

Now, back to topic...

...the guy people called J'shua bin Miriam 2ooo years ago probably believed that the spirits of the dead (not 'souls') rested in Sheol after death (either in the comfort of Abraham or without), before they were judged by יהוה in the resurrection. Then, during the resurrection, they would either join יהוה in the afterlife or, if found unacceptable, be sent to Gehenna.

No "Pit of Fire" involved - just a garbage dump, really.

Of course, the real "Jesus" most likely believed in reincarnation, as well . . .

There is no 'lake of fire'. That is something Christians made up.

According to the holy-roller pastor we had when I was a kid, "weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth".

Pure bullshit as far as I'm concerened.

Eternal Hell Fire and Damnation, the Holy Trinity, and other Christian constructs have little or no basis in Christ's teachings. Someone PLEASE point out the chapter and verse that talks about the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. Please!

But really, what can one expect? Even something as basic as the Ten Commandments vary from faith-to-faith (http://www.positiveatheism.org/crt/whichcom.htm).

Truth be told, nobody can tell you if there even is a Life after this one, so why not just try to live your own Life well? You know, harm no one lest ye be harmed, judge no one lest ye be judged?

Bring Joy wherever you can, offer Comfort wherever it is needed, Enlighten those who are ready wherever you may happen to be but most importantly, Enjoy the Life you have been given, wherever and whenever you are living it.

My guess is if you do these things then you'll probably be too busy living "The Good Life" to be worried about that proverbial, mythological "lake of fire".

I would find fishing a painful prospect, so maybe i would catch pre-cooked fish. Also it is true that the term 'hell' is derived from the word 'hades', or 'common grave' (no immortal life there), and that the idea of a fiery pit comes from the literal biblical place of Gehenna which was indeed a big fire pit waste dump.

http://jesusneverexisted.com/

The website owner did all the work.

xtianity cost me a lot of time and money. 40+ years and thousands of $$$.

There is no "lake of fire", no "hell", no "heaven". But that doesn't mean that there is no life after death. It just means that xtianity is bullshit and was meant for nothing but controlling the population.
