Binaural vs Subliminal vs Normal files

Postby geekdh » July 12th, 2024, 11:01 am

First, some context. I’m fairly new here, having been here a couple months off and on. But I seem to be one of those individuals that just can’t be hypnotized, I.e., I have tried probably close to 50 files, and have not gotten the expected result in ANY of them, despite, in some cases, listening many, many times.

That being, the case, I listen to the straight MP3 files for entertainment value.

For me, binaural and/or subliminal versions are of no interest because they are unintelligible to me, or, at best, require a lot more work to understand them.

So my question is, assuming that I were able to go into trance, are binaural or subliminals ever more effective than the straight MP3 file? I have seen some files where commenters raved about one or the other.

In general, do they have a specific use?

Thanks for helping me out.

Hi geekdh,

To answer your direct questions:

  • Subliminal files work without needing an induction or a trance. Their proposed method of action is that they slip into your subconscious awareness because they aren't consciously audible. They seem to be very powerful for some people, so it might be worth your time listening to some of the ones with higher ratings a few times – it's very possible you're one of those people.
  • Binaural files have additional background sounds that often increase their effectiveness at inducing a hypnotic trance. The sounds may make the primary voice track harder to understand, but that might make them more effective.

The indirect question you haven't asked seems to be: how can I experience hypnosis because I really want to, but so far nothing seems to work?

Some bits of unasked-for advice:
  • If you can, find a hypnotist who will do a few video chat (Skype or Zoom or something) sessions with you to see if together you can find a way to drop you more deeply into trance. A hypnotist who can observe you as you listen has a better chance of finding a technique that might work
  • If it's possible to find someone to work with in person, so much the better
  • Grab as many different Induction files off this site as you can and try them. You will find that some approaches to trance induction work better than others and once you have the experience of going into trance one way, that translates into finding your way into trance using other methods
  • Do some reading about self-hypnosis and look for some training videos (YouTube). The old saying "all hypnosis is self-hypnosis" has a lot of truth to it. If you can improve your skills at being hypnotised, you will get better results from the files you find here.

It is genuinely harder for some people to allow hypnosis to happen than for others. Not everyone is like my friend who can find his way into trance simply by reading words in an email or text messages. He finds that he starts to drop as soon as he opens a message from a Dominant hypnotist. But how much of his experience is his natural submissiveness? How much is his expectation that he will be hypnotised? How much is his eagerness to obey and drop down deep? And how much is the skill of the hypnotist? Or his arousal at the thought of this hypnotist dominating him?

It's hard to tell. But he knows that dreamlike, foggy feeling that starts to enfold his eager mind as soon as he lets it in. And he knows the way he needs to relax to let that feeling penetrate more deeply into his mind. And he knows that every time he allows it to happen, he gets better and better at trance. And that's what he wants.

I hope that if you become more aware of some of your dynamics that help you go deeper, as well as those that impede your descent, you may awaken into a new level of hypnosis skill that lets you accomplish what you most desire, geekdh. May you find every success!

I've never had any post-hypnotic suggestions work for me. I like files that don't really put you under, but give you a sort of mantra or background track while you are doing something else that sort of puts you into a trance. The Hypnogirl files here by Hypnofemme are like that.

I tried many kinds of files when I was starting and initially just stuff on YouTube. My theory from back then is that the binaural files (with no audible words) are just noise and that 95% of the work is done by the file description, building an expectation of what the file will do. If you believe that and then the binaural sounds put you into a trance-like state, then the suggestion from the description could potentially take. Maybe that's just me and they really work for some people?

I like files that have multiple layers of sound, but I really don't know if anything sub-audible has any effect on me. I think the sensory overload of multiple spoken tracks is a valid technique though.

Some of the hypnotists I tried and discovered that I liked:

- The Secret Subject: great voice and technique in my opinion, but she doesn't really do the type of files that I'm into.
- Fiona Clearwater: also a good voice and she actually has some files that I liked and still listen to every now and then.
- Silver Hypnosis: somewhat traditional technique and I thought the scripts were well written and the background "hum" enhances the files.
- Jacqueline Campenelli: very interesting and entertaining, but I don't know how effective the files are. Fun to listen to.

On WMM, I think my favorites are Hypnofemme (AI voice, but good writing & editing) and Busenman (AI voice, bad English, but they either put me under or to sleep reliably - not sure which it really is).

It seems to me that if you believe hypnosis will work, it's much more likely to work for you. I tend to label myself as an unbeliever (but I still hope to be converted to a believer some day).

I have also gone to some live events, but there were too many people around for me to relax, so I never went into trance as far as I could tell. There's a local hypno Discord now, so I may find someone to do this with at some point.
