Questions about file enhancement

Postby lilneb » August 16th, 2011, 10:06 am

I've read in several places that you can loop parts of files for longer suggestions or apply a background music over files. How is this done? I assume there is some software needed to do this but I haven't had much luck finding what I need. I'm a linux user, and would prefer to use that to do this. However, I do have a windows dual-boot I can use if I must. Thanks.

Well, I don't know what you've read but I imagine it wouldn't be too hard to make a loop-able file in an audio editor. Just download the body of a file(assuming you have premium access) and edit a recording of someone saying a re-induction trigger at the beginning. Open in your preferred audio-player on repeat/loop/replay and ta-da! Looping suggestions forever! For music, open another audio-player playing music on loop at the same time.

There are also some files that are intended to be looped on their own without editing. Hmm... as far as the actual audio editor, I use Audacity... it's free, and can do way more than I need it to. They have a Linux version too, though I haven't tried it. I'd assume it's essentially the same, but my apologies if it isn't.
As for editing the tracks, just skip around to where you want the new version of the file to begin, same for the end. Try to avoid going into trance while doing so, though (that's why I skip around). This is what I do when I want to loop the body of a file overnight and leave out the induction and awakener, since using an awakener while trying to sleep just makes no sense.
I'm sure you can layer tracks with it too, though I've only done so accidentally.
