i'd like some help to find tools for tts/ypnosis on linux

Newer than what? If I recall correctly that thread recommends Festival, which is still actively maintained and does a pretty good job of keeping up with the latest innovations.

I think that link's more or less still accurate. The public side of Festival doesn't seem to move very quickly. One issue I've hit is that the CMU Arctic voices don't support changing the speed at which the text is spoken, which is inconvenient if you're using them for hypnosis.

Sounds robotic but can speak more languages then you can shake a stick at.

some of the online free converters are much better ..
abc.com has pretty good
