alot of these threads speak of newbies wanting it all right now right away and that they get frustrated when they cannot get the files they want to work... to work
the phrase " they pick files that are at too high of a level for them" comes up often. and as a newbie who has little success I would like to know
How do I know when I am ready for the next step, how do I know when to stop listening to inductions and deepeners and try a file
and which files are ok to start with when you are first beginning :(

Right away.
It's not a matter of being ready for a "certain level of file", it's a matter of how used to and comfortable with the whole thing your mind and brain are. I'm making a distinction here between the two, because there is. Mind is software, brain is hardware. Your mind is made up of your conscious and subconscious. You might be consciously ready to accept the changes a file consciously, but your subconscious has some limiters built in to keep you safe. You can remove those, or you can build them up even stronger. I'm talking about stuff like "mental defense" files and slavery/submission files. Files like Blank and Bubble also fall into this bit. An annoying bit of subconscious limitation is the "analytical mind". This: http://www.warpmymind.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=66975&sid=783a533fc896d3be657d82500f8827ee covers that fairly well. The average human brain possesses all the connections and capabilities necessary for 'nosis to work properly, but I haven't read much about how the brain works in relation to 'nosis. However, binaural beats, isochronic tones, and some other noises can help anyone drop more easily. Drugs can do some things in relation to 'nosis, but that's a fairly complex topic. Meditation can be seen as more-or-less related to 'nosis, depending on which branch of meditation you are using/pursuing.
What I did to start off (way before I began guided self-nosis, more on that later) was I used Bubble, and got some good results. Noticeable results, but I wasn't able to do anything with it because I wasn't committed, so it wore off. Bubble (or some other triggering file) will give anyone a very good head-start if it is done correctly. With 5 minutes of figuring out Audacity and some clever file selection, you can edit out the old inductions (or skip this if you get a body) and drop in the Bubble trigger (or other trigger phrase).
Now, I haven't had a lot of success with files or high-level skills like hallucination, time distortion, etc. If a file is a "experienced hallucination" file, then as a noob, don't expect much from it, because you'd probably get discouraged. Or, you could be super-susceptible and it'll go on the first try. Hallucinations take a lot of time, practice and experience to achieve. Files are typically not as effective as a live tist or a chat session, so that could have been part of the problem for me. Or perhaps I just didn't find what my brain liked in terms of voice, pacing, etc. Here's where my current situation starts. I met a very helpful man who got me started with a method of doing stuff inside my head, and the capability to upgrade that method is embedded in the system, so there are always new ways to make changes, and new ways of communicating with my subconscious, each more powerful than the last. So far, I've been able to change my personality and outlook and change some of my dieting habits. That's just the tip of the iceberg. I'm currently working on external hallucinations. You can read the process in my journal, but I've got a lot to update since the last entry.
