What is the appropriate volume for listening to files? Can I have it playing at a low level so I can hear more of what is going on around me or do I have to be able to hear everything well?

It depends what type of file. if its a traditional hypnosis file you want to listen to it at whatever volume is comfortable where you can clearly make out the words. for more of a brainwashing loop type file, many people enjoy listening to them at a much quieter level while they work. often the volume is brought down so that it is just barely audible, but can easily be tuned out to work on something while you are listening.
