What's stopping you from just joining the chat room, and asking there?

Everything is possible. The only questions lie with the skill of the hypnotist, the receptivity of the patient, and the setting in which the session occurs. Obviously, if one or two of these overrides one or both of the other two in any way that one or two will determine the outcome.
For example, if the hypnotist is really good, they can use the clients set, and the setting to help guide the client into trance. If the hypnotist is fairly incompetent, but the clients' set, and the setting are ideal then the client will be able to go into a trance with the little help the hypnotist provides.
There are issues with doing hypnosis through chat. There are limited channels for feedback between the hypnotist, and the client. The same thing goes for doing hypnosis over the phone, or using a nonverbal induction.
My suggestion: Get on there. Talk to a few tists. Find one you think is good to great, and that you get a sense you can trust. Then, get them to have some fun with you.
You can find The Book of Lies in almost any book store. Also, ebay, and amazon.com are good places to look.

Look at this log (and just in case, yeah, you can simply replace "she" by "he", "her" by "him" and so on on-the-fly in your mind only when you need to test the effect).

It is a fun idea to play with, but it's just too much work via chat (IMO anyways).
