First of all, I'd like to say hello to everyone and it's quite interesting to be posting on an hypnosis board. Just from lurking about I see that this is more friendly than a lot of boards I've visited. :)
Anyway, onto my question. I've been wondering if it is possible to use hypnosis to sort of... undo psychological damage caused by past traumatizing events. You see, about a year ago, I had a really rough time at boarding school. I had a couple really really 'bad' teachers, along with a whole buncha other bullshit, and to put it simply- I came back a shattered person. So here I am now, looking for a solution to help repair the damage that was caused and so I ask, is it possible to find a hypnosis file, or perhaps a hypnotist locally that might be able to help me undo the mental road blocks and damage that occurred way back when?

Yes hypnosis would definatley be able to do what u asked. I am not sure there are any files that would fit your case exactly here.
What damage do you believe was done?

Well, after the countless therapy sessions I had I have a general idea at least. I left there with shattered confidence, lost my willpower, and a drug habit (I've been smoking a lotta pot heh). That's the general basis of the damage from what I can tell. Another way to look at it, and this is what the doctors are saying, is I have a nice heavy dose of depression. Either way you look at it, it's not pretty :? Before I went, I loved to program and work on computers and electronics. Afterwards, I can't bring myself to do anything except sit around and browse the internet. I'm having a hell of a time even playing the games I used to love to play anymore :(

Here's my list of files I recommend for you:
Be a leader by Mooncycle : To rebuild your confidence
CurseStrightedge by helion0 : To quit pot(maybe a little extreme but it'll work)
Opened by helion0 : To improve the way you look at the world in general
I hope that helps your depression. BTW, are you currently taking antidepressants?

Thanks for the heads up on the files, I'll get those right away.
As far as anti-depressants go, not yet. At the rate I'm going I'm pretty sure some doctor along the line is gonna give me some tho. I'm trying to avoid them as best as I can.

Well if you do get prescribed them my advice is to not take them. Pills will not make you better.I had a work friend that was depressed. The pills only made him worse.Just stopping the pills helped him.But after a few sessions with me he is fine now.
Try the files as suggested. P.S make this your last visit to the internet for a week at least (after downloading the files of course).
If you think you need more than just the files maybe seeing a local Hypnotherapist or NLP practitioner.

Whoa - how about you leave the medical advice to the GP there buddy? Sure hypnosis can do wonders and probably could help with depression, and I hate 'pill culture' as much as anyone, but it's hugely irresponsible to go dishing out medical 'advice' like that. Thank God he didn't have cancer as I'm sure there'd be one nutjob out there who said "Actually if hypnosis can make your cock bigger, it must be able to shrink a cancerous growth. I had a friend with cancer and chemo didn't work for him - don't try it!"

First off, on pills: If the problem is a chemical imbalance, they are defiantely going to be helpful. If it's psycological at the base, pills at best are just going to give you some space to deal with it. (Which can be helpful as well, but it doesn't directly solve the problem.)
Any of the files here are going to be the same, really: They might deal with the symptoms, but you still have to deal with the cause.
Which is what therapists and psycologists are for. A good therapist should be helping you figure out what the problems are, and helping you deal with them. The best use of hypnosis in this would be by a hypnotherapist, who can use hypnosis to help get directly to the root causes and reassure your subconsious of what it needs to believe.

Thats exactly right. leave the MEDICAL advice to the GP.NOT phycological. Do you know how a doctor assertains and prescribes for depression?
I was giving one example of many i have worked with as an EXAMPLE.All of which were CURED after they stopped taking the pills and i worked with them physcologically.
Would i tell someone to stop taking drugs for cancer hell NO.But physcological problems are not solved with drugs. All the drugs do is supress the symptoms so that the patient can be a managable person to the general public and get on with life.I have never met known or heard about a phycological problem that was CURED with drugs. All the drugs do is mask the problem.
A therapist/hypnotherapist as mentioned by dark will find what the cause is etc and work with it and eventually guide the patient into freeing themselves.Something drugs wont.

Heh, you all hit on some really good points as far as medication goes. However there is one thing you missed- The fact that the medications are really only there to take the edge off. If the issue that's being dealt with is a chemical imbalance, the medications I took in the days of yesteryears would have made me feel completely normal. This was not the case, which leads me to believe something more needs to be done. I've been in therapy for 11 fsking years, and I'm pretty damn sick of it, and by this point I know what the medications can and cannot do. They aren't magic little pills that fix everything, they're just aids to help deal with it and get over it faster.
So I'd like to touch on the use of a hypnotherapist, as I've been flip flopping between therapists lately. I read an FAQ on how to tell if someone is good or not, but my issue is finding someone near by that isn't gonna try to scalp me or something for all the money I've got. So I was wondering what should I look for when interviewing an hypnotherapist? What are some good questions to ask aside from the usual "Have you dealt with a case like me before?" and checking to see if they want to have me come too many times based upon the problem. Speaking of which, how many visits would it take to get this fixed?
EDIT: I just realized I didn't read all the responses, it seems darkmind hit the nail on the head. oopsie dasie :P

I'm not disputing the fact that medication only treats the symptoms of psychological disorders and not the cause. What I am saying is that despite the fact I know that, I'll leave the advice on what to do or not to do to someone QUALIFIED. If hypnosis HAS to be involved (if you know for sure the depression comes from a psychological cause in this case, surely a counsellor would be more logical than a hypnotist?) then the best place to ascertain that would be to consult a hypnotherapist - not a bunch of erotic hypnosis fetishists.
Just so I'm not seen to be having a go at the Topic Creator here I'd like to point out it's perfectly understandable you looking for help here, if you feel you're out of options.
However, I'm not a trained hypnotherapist, so I would feel uncomfortable even suggesting the use of hypnosis myself. If anyone out there IS a QUALIFIED hypnotherapist, then that's a different matter.

Thank you. Maybe next time you wont asume that i am not ( in both fields ) just because this is a fetish website.
Apotherm Personally my advice here would be to see an NLP practitioner. You say you have been seeing people for this for 11 years, which to me indicates you have already been to see counsellors.Am i right.Try an nlp practitioner.
Sorry cant really give any ideas on how to interview a good hypnotherapist or practitioner.
