Hey, I am doing a project on hypnotism for one of my classes, anyone know of any prominent/influential hypnotists other than Erickson or Janet? (Sorry EMG, I am not sure you can qualify ;))

Hey, in the field of erotic/bizarre hypnosis I probably am. In the field of medical hypnosis I don't even raise and eyebrow :) If you have a TON of free time go talk to Dr. Brian David Phillips, he runs a large group on yahoo(Hypnosis Technique Exchange), is the creator of the Society of Experimental Trance, and a pretty nice guy. he's at http://www.briandavidphillips.com

Cal Banyan is also a prominent hypnotist. He's written a number of books on the subject and is considered a reputed contemporary. I'm sure if you google his name, you'll find his site. He's pretty down to earth and reachable so give it a go.

Paul Mckenna has some kudos in the UK, although Im not sure his influence stretches as far as the rest of the world.

You must include Milton Erickson and Robert Dilts to the list.
