Shock hypnosis?

On youtube there are loads of "shock hypnosis" or "shock induction" videos showing hypnotists instantly hypnotising people by shocking them with sudden motions and then telling them to sleep while they are still reacting to the shock. Although the videos look kind of suspicious in the fact they seem to all be adverts for various companies and such a thing seems too good to be true?

I've seen it used in person with a very qualified hypnotist. The shock induction does work, but don't expect anything more than a light trance to work fron, but you have to start somewhere.

The very quick (shock) inductions do work. But you can't fire them off at anybody and expect them to work. It might work in rare cases in this way, but the best way to use them is to ask the subjects first, if they will allow you to put them into trance very quickly - and then get a yes. Don't expect it to work otherwise.

People who aren't asked that question and don't know what you are trying to do, will more likely just react with surprise and wonder.
