When you do hypnosis - whether it be from a file or with a hypnotist, you always have a "contract" (or agreement) with the hypnotist. If the hypnotist is someone in person, you are able to speak with him/her about the contract - meaning which areas it is alright for the hypnotist to work on you in. If you listen to a file, you are unable to have a contract with the specific hypnotist. Instead - I think you form the contract with yourself - that it will be alright to listen to / work with this and that specific topic before you enter trance.
Now if the hypnotist (or the file) goes beyond the contract and starts working in an area that is beyond that which the contract specifies - for instance if you are seeing a hypnotist to stop smoking, and then during the session, he tries to make you undress - then this would be a breach of the contract (an highly unethical too!!), and your depth of trance would immediately change - bringing you up and perhaps out of trance completely.
I think that what happened in this case was, that you hadn't heard the file through, but thought the file would be all fine (would meet with your contract), so you started listening to it and going into trance. Now someway during the file, the hypnotist said something that was NOT OK by your contract, because it was something your subconscious was just not prepared to accept - and you brought yourself right out of trance.
One should always listen to a file before going into trance with it - or read the script - if possible. And if you listen to the file, you won't go into trance if you're not trying to - you might want to skip the induction, though - just in case. Then just listen to the body of the file and test to see if it sounds OK to you. If not - you will have little or no success with it. So it's time well spent! :-)
Best wishes
