My friend wants me to put him in a trance and use one of the body building files on him, but he can't go into a trance. It just doesn't work. So would it be possible for me to have it playing in his ears while he sleeps?

It's very unlikely that he cannot go into any level of trance. Give him something to listen to just before bed, with no wakener.

you might want to look into some of the more "physical" forms of inductions, such as the arm raising induction. Some people respond better to these than the more passive inductions (such as progressive relaxation).
