Where have you been? Jack has pointed you to the thread in which there was a rather long and contentious debate. The acrimony took place well after you became a registered user.

As it stands now, you are already free to post publicly whatever files you have downloaded.

IOW, voluntary exhibitionism is fine. Voyeurism is not facilitated by mandatory regulations imposed on others.

You see the difference, I'm sure. You may like to peak at your neighbor taking a shower, but he/she is not obliged to raise the bathroom shade in order to accommodate your desires.

Against the possibility that the issue would arise again, a number of people already have downloaded every free file on the site. An excessive reaction, in my opinion; but they mean to protect their privacy.

They did it quietly. Reason? Excess demand, with no increase in supply (bandwidth), can lead to rationing. The wise person stocks up before the crowds appear.

Your desire could lead to limits on the number of files one can download. Or to a necessary increase in bandwidth, for which none of us pays a penny.
