I was looking for someone via the member index, and it is really unwieldy. To there are 1600 pages, but they can only be parsed through one at a time.

example -- sort the list by alphabetical order, and you'll find that user "AAAAAAAAAAAA" is around 500th in the list. Now assume you are looking for someone with any other letter in the alphabet, say "E". You can jump to pages "Previous" "Next" "1" "2" "3" "1599" "1600". So you jump to page "3" and are looking at names beginning with the number 2. You can now jump to pages "2", "4", "previous", "next", "1599", "1600"
You don't want to go to page "4", you want to start at page "15" or "20". Heaven help someone who wants to see users starting with"N"

If there was a "Goto Page [text box]" widget so you could type a page number into the box and jump to it, it would save a lot of time.

something crude but effective enough:

on page 3 of the members list you see members 101- 150 and the URL in ends in ...der=ASC&start=100

if you type another number instead of 100, it'll go to that member number.

For example if you change it to "&start=1100" and press enter you'll get members 1101-1150

it's faster than using the whole previous page/ next page thing. Longer term, I think EMG has posted elsewhere that He's dealing with the issue as part of a general upgrade of the site.
