I think that part of my mind's resistance to hypnosis is the knowledge that I am not in a position to just abandon the outside world and become something different. I think that, for me atleast, it would only work if I was "on vacation" somewhere that I didn't have to worry about work, bills, and cleaning. I could let go of the outside world and become something new.
I don't think I would walk into it willingly if I knew the changes would be permanent, although, at the same time, if someone was able to successfully erase my current identity and create a new one where I was a pet, I wouldn't really have a way of saying that I had enough and wanted to go back.
