You've started a new thread, asking about trancing via Instant Message (IM) or through Internet Relay Chat (IRC). It's genuinely a pleasure to confirm that, yes, TEXT trancing can be done.

That being said - you need to be aware that it's different from VERBAL (MP3 or hypnotist) trancing. Firstly, it's challenging to go into trance with eyes open. Secondly, it moves more slowly.
