Neuro-muscular Stimulator

Postby makidas » June 2nd, 2005, 8:54 pm

Anyways, I got one at a yardsale, anyone know the best way to use these things? For those of you who don't know, you put an electrode on both ends of your muscle, turn it on, and it shocks your muscles causing them to tighten and release. I couldn't find a manual anywhere online for this thing. Anyways, TTFN

It's basically used to strengthen yourt muscles without any exertion, I got it from a paraplegic woman who was using it on her legs.

Did it work for her? Maybe she got a newer version.

BTW, these things are advertised in the back of wannabe-highbrow magazines.

I'm not overly happy about the way this page behaves, but once you jump through the hoops, it does have a capsule description of what it's for.

Mak, why did you buy it? Are you a paraplegic, too?

Your expressed unhappiness with the webpage caught my interest.

Did we promise Humana that we were health-care providers? :)

I'm not a para-plegic, I got it so I could work on my abs without doing sit-ups, lol! She had no use for it because her lowerhalf was totally immobal. It was my understanding that some nasty bed-sores caused some rather serious infections that rendered the device useless to her.

I didn't like the number of attempts it made to serve me cookies that didn't seem to serve any purpose. I had the feeling of having to jump through hoops and turn a backflip to get to the information.

I think that the idea of the unit's being able to build muscle/reduce fat is tenuous at best. The main uses are to relieve muscle spasms and pain. Check out http://www.drugs.com/CG/HOW_TO_USE_A_TENS_UNIT.html for some basic information on useage.

A tens unit and a neuro-muscular stimulator are too completely different devices used for two completely different purposes.

And quit trying to steal my damn avatar!!!!

Parallaxfx, using the same avastar as makidas is really confusing. I'd love it if you didn't use the same avatar, because I'll read your posts and I think to my self "that doesn't sound like something makidas would say." 10 secods later (which is way too long) I realize that he didn't write it. So for my sake, and all the other people out there who read mak's 188 posts, change your avatar.

Parallaxfx had made only 14 posts as of this writing. You see his posts everywhere? I think you're trying to bully the guy into changing his avatar. That's a decision for him to make.
