"By" tends to be less personal than "of." For example, "a child of" suggests an infant living in his own home with his own parents. "A child by" could be a foundling...or the product of a milkman who enjoys his morning rounds.

Two small problems.

1. Tg_812 lives in Melbourne.

2. Tg_812 started only one Non-Sequitur thread. I haven't gone to count the number of views and the number of posts in it. But the entire thread is here...absent tg_812's own posts. I found it in "the basement," so to speak. It's posted in this Forum...or was last week. I haven't checked recently.

I still like your post and your delivery. They prove a point that probably has some fancy name in psychology. If a speaker sounds sure of his facts, most people will believe him.

I can post it as my avatar, you can right-click on it, save it to file, and then post it as your rightful avatar. Then I can replace mine. EMG may know a more efficient way to make the transfer. If you want to post anything that was in the public domain, I have no problems with that. If you want to post some more PMs that unfairly modify an observer's perception of the person you quote, you'll have to consult your conscience and your estimation of both resources and width of focus.

Three quick items that you and I will understand through our posting at WMM since April.

It pays to have at least some memory. I recalled the general idea of your answer to dan. After lunch...afternoon. It could have been in another thread that you said you were in Melbourne, maybe that you had just walked across a street in Melbourne. If I remember correctly, you made that post at just about the same time as the ones I cited above.

The second item, you can vouch for. We have some new members who don't know the history and lore of the site. One of them can't understand why I sometimes quote a post in case the original disappears. (Maybe he thinks I'm being paranoid, but I only look over my shoulder when there's somebody there. 8O) He doesn't realize that one night all your posts--well over 100 of them--disappeared all at once and without notice. As I understand it, that was done at your request. That left many Forum threads in a state where readers can't fully understand them. I could make you a list of threads in various Forums that a new reader (1) can't fully understand, as a result of these deletions, as opposed to other causes, and (2) doesn't know why these threads lack sequence and logic.

You also asked for every thread you had started to be erased. Those threads included lots of posts made by others, including me and many of the members who posted in the first several months here.

Actually, your contrast of the milkmen and plumbers is a really interesting one. Both have the motive. Which has the better opportunity? On the one hand, the plumber can come, I mean arrive, at mid-morning when the husband, I mean SO or perhaps IO, is at work. But the milkman has the cover to come every day. And that's better and more..er..productive than a solitary one-dawn stand. :P
