Why should the Aussies get all the fun? Share your current global position with the rest of the world.

I'm from good ol' Blighty (or England to everyone else)

What does Blighty mean? I'm mean why call England Blighty?

Why call America 'land of the free? It clearly isn't. Blighty's just our nickname for Britain.

Actually my complete beleif on U$ freedom's is that you are free but that comes at a price. And that we barter and negotiate our freedom back and forth. Although sometimes we get ripped off. Sorry not trying to get phillisophical with you guys but that's how I feel. The U$ motto should be "Freedom at Price!"

I live in the us, new york, and I think that the slogan "home of the free" is just a big form of propaganda that the gov has created.

The Puss is from Uk/ The nice bit near the bottom.. Wasnt England called "Blighty" during one of those fantastic and interesting wars we learnt about in our history lessons? You know ,The one where we beat the Germans ??

I'm sure I should be able to remember where that word came from... I know that "to catch a blighty one" was army slang, meant suffering an injury which would get you sent home without being too debilitating.

So many things I used to know, now forgotten
I need something to top up my memory, I think

(I'm from England too, although I can't remember if I already posted here)

Yup !! "Blighty" Oxford Concise says " army slang .. England , Home after foreign service " nothing about war wounds tho, !! "Brit Slang " suggests that the word doesnt sound right unless escaping from the mouth of the upper classes ...(thats posh to me and you ) :!:

Sorry Chymos , you may be from US & I may be from UK but Im sure we came from the same planet originally :?:

Lovely.....well, there goes what may be the only option I had for moving to another country.....at least without learning a new language, anyway. Oh well.....

I wouldn't be surprised if we did ;)

LOL, chymos! Look on the bright side! Don't you want your very own GPS ankle bracelet? And you can fill your iPod with uplifting oratory like the May 1 Victory speech and recordings of Millipede Blair saying, "On the other hand...."

Need I mention that you have already learned a second language?
("Y'all come back and see us, now, ya heah!")
Since this is a PG channel, I have cleaned up the spelling a little. )

Don't forget the economic opportunities! Today's paper brought a report that the airport security people rented a magnetometer for six months for $150,000--when they could have bought an identical one, brand-new, for $6,000.

It may be a specialized field, but if you find a friend who rents magnetometers, you're set for life. :)

There is still one place you can move to without having to learn a new language and have the possibility of freedom. Outer Space. Maybe we'll all move there some day.

Jack . Im sure we will move to outer space one day... But I saw on the news President Bush is planning to have you guys on the moon by 2020, so I dont think their will be any freedom. Lots of laws , a few armies and the IRS probably but no freedom!!lol

Canada... the other "only" option, Chymos.

Of course, that's only until you invade us for our water after you're sated on Middle East oil.

I, too, am from the US - the midwest, actually. it heartens me to see such animosity towards the US; i know now that at least there's others who feel the same way as i do, you know? I was in some doubt about that, considering most of my neighbors are flag-waving patriots who count 'questioning Dubya's spoken word' a sin *rolls eyes*

Hey jon, im trying real hard to stifle the sarcastic comments that are so obviously invited by the term, Air Capital, since you obviously do not deserve them. But I have to ask. What the hell does Air Capital mean?

Sarnoga

8O Okay - if you feel safer lying & telling foreigners you're from Canada that is somewhat pathetic. Just tell them you're from outter space. And as you're impostoring a Canadian - hope you're being genuinely modest & polite *s*. Geezus, nobody tells the truth anymore !!
