Today, I found out that i have a problem with my vagus nerve :(

I have, since being in high-school had problems with this, but I never knew what it was. I sometimes feel very weak whilst sitting and a lot of the time, when standing up after sitting for a long amount of time I get very light headed (more so then normal people do.) So today This happened but worse than usual. I stood up beside my computer to stretch and next thing I know, I am on the floor in an strange position. My glasses are bent apart and scraped with the paint from the wall next to me. So my mom (yes, I live with my parents, but I am only 18 and it is only until i go to college.) is in the other room but I am still light headed so I go bumbling in and tell her what happened.

As soon as I get there, I nearly pass out again. It is a strange feeling, it is like the world is this small little box that is slowly moving away, the sound moving with it. So, she agrees to drive me to the hospital and when I get there, they run tests and whatnot. They tell me that It is most likely not diabetes (which is always good) but then they they ask if this has ever come close to happening to me before and i tell them that it has (a few times I have stood and then fallen, but I manage to hit my bed every time because I still have some control)

So then they say that I 90% sure have a problem with my vagus nerve( a nerve that starts in your brain and runs to your stomach). They said that my body sometimes allocates too much blood to my stomach. This is normally not going to effect me unless I am standing and it will especially effect the rate at witch blood gets to my head when i stand from sitting. Fortunately, this is not harmful as long as I am careful. They said to keep from standing quickly, especially if I am feeling shaky or groggy. Also, I should be careful because just stretching my neck can also trigger it . (which is true, but it is not that bad to me, just a little tunnel vision normally) Dehydration is a trigger as well.

I am really just glad that I don't have something more serious wrong with me or that I did not fall backwards onto my computer desk which could have been pretty bad. At the end of the day, I walked away with a little bad news, some bruises on my face (where I hit the wall), and broken glasses. Just thought I would post it because it was a pretty interesting day :)

Replies are welcome. Feel free to ask me about it.
