as for sins, I'm particularly fond of Coveting things.

The seven deadly sins are:
Pride
Greed
Lust
Wrath
Envy
Sloth
Gluttony

Coveting is not one of them, but (in my mind) is a mixture of greed and envy.

Then Speaker for the Dead, Xenocide, and Children of the Mind.

Then you have Ender's Shadow (the original story told from the perspective of Bean) and Shadow Puppets, Shadow of the Hegemon, and Shadow of the Giant.

Go to a used book book store and you might be able to get them all in one shot.

I also like Orson Scott Card's Homecoming series.

Ahh, yes, don't know why I didn't remember Speaker for the Dead. Children of the Mind just didn't work well for me, and I didn't like Ender's Shadow for what I expect are personal reasons as the book was well written. Not sure if I'll go into Puppets etc.

I would definitely say Speaker for the Dead (the first sequel) is really good, as good as Ender's Game itself. However, it is a very different story. Xenocide is good also, but basically just finishes out the story in Speaker for the Dead. And Children of the Mind, in my opinon, is really a complete tangent that spawns off of an odd idea that concludes Xenocide. A number of people don't care for it as much.

The parallel Shadow series is enjoyable, but I wouldn't say nearly as intense or exciting. It starts the whole story over but follows the life of Bean.

I don't like reading fiction either. I would much rather spend my reading time learning. But I was forsced to start reading Ender's Game, and now I can't put it down. I just got to the part where Ender becomes commander of the Dragon Army. Nobody had better ruin the rest of it for me!! :lol:

In the end, Ender finally meets his true Oops, sorry danmalara, didn't notice your most there. In that case, suffice to say that it's a great book and I haven't read a single other in the series. Hey, I wonder if someone could make a file around that...?

Ender Wiggin. An author has to be brave to give that name to his central character. But Card's doing well with his 20-year-old book and its sequels. Warner Brothers has an option for a movie, combining Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow.

The Mind Game is a highlight, and the real theme for me is that Ender could grow up at all, in such a controlled, no-win world. Triumph of the human spirit, I would say. Having the right mix of compassion and cruelty to attend the Battle School is certainly realistic, in light of more recent actual events--when there's been more cruelty than compassion.

[Not a bad write-up, for someone who had never heard of Ender or Card until five minutes ago.]

Sounds like a politico's delight. I suppose incuriosity comes under sloth. Obsessive curiosity, in contrast, could fit under at least four headings.

If I remember correctly, the Seven Deadly Sins had HRCAC encouragement and were often personified in medieval morality plays...at a time when most people in Europe couldn't read and write.

As for coveting...

It's the 10th of Ten, from which a partial verbatim quote:

"Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, nor... his wife, nor his maid, nor his ox, nor his ass... ."

The lower-formers at UK public schools never have trouble remembering that one.

It's uncommon enough that you will be guessing a LONG time. But I'll give you a TOTALLY worthless hint. There are only 5 people with my first and last name in the US(last I checked).

Yes, and you are not the first to use that method and with work, I am quite certain an enterprising user can track down my real name(it has happened on more than a few occasions). I may even eventually make a public appearance at a BDSM/Leather event in the next couple years. Still, at this time I would ask that anyone that knows my name/etc. not post it as I would prefer to keep that private. Colorado Springs is a VERY conservative city and personally I don't want phone calls late into the night.
