Describe a perm

I am preparing a file for a friend who wants to experience having a perm done.

Now as the only hair-raising excperiences I've had for the last couple of years involve getting close with a pair of clippers I couldn't accurately describe the smells, thoughts, sensations that you'd feel sitting there as someone teased and tussled with my hair tightly winding it into rollers, or whatever.

So, if you could describe the sights, smells and sounds of a visit to a salon, PLEASE, PLEASE PM or email me.
