Binaural Beats and Speakers

Postby bedwetter74 » August 13th, 2009, 8:58 am

Hi folks,

I have been listening to the binaural files in my earbuds. Is the effect the same with stereo speakers? To me, it sounds a bit muddy, but I wonder if it is important that one ear be receiving a different sound than the other. What are your thoughts?

The point of binaurals is that the sounds coming from the buds don't do anything by themselves. They're slightly different from each other so when you hear one in one ears and the other in your other ear, your brain "hears" a sound that isn't there at a frequency that conventional speakers/earbuds can't replicate. That frequency affects your mind, which is how binaurals work.

By playing them through speakers, you achieve nothing since you're hearing both sounds in each ear. It's just a load of useless noise without noise-cancelling earbuds.
