Files that suggest regulating breathing helped me too. I had to make a bit of an effort to do it, so it didn't let me wander as much.
Have a nosey, see if anything catches your eye.
Whilst I haven't made it into trance before (although I'm trying hard) I have read some stuff about hypnosis.
The trick seems to be in distracting your conscious mind from paying attention, whilst the unconscious is absorbing all the commands.
It described the brain as a large office block with lots of offices with filing cabinets (sub conscious). It's night time and there is a security guard (conscious) blocking access to the filing cabinets.
From what I've read, the security guard is distracted by things like numbers (counting) and breathing. If it's too simple the security guard can still keep an eye out for intruders. It has to be a little complicated.
So give the security guard the following task. Focusing on breathing - in through nose, out through mouth, at the same time as counting backwards from 300. Doing 2 things at once is more than the security guard can handle and it should distract him enough so 'you, the hypnotist' cam sneak past and gain access to the filing cabinets.
The security guard isn't stupid, and if you make too much noise upstairs in the offices (lose focus), then he'll sound the alarm (you'll snap out of trance) and you'll be back to square 1. It's important to keep the security guard distracted with the breathing and the counting to maintain the trance until the job is done.
That's a lot of metaphors, but hopefully it proves useful for someone. :D
