It doesn't really matter what your conscious mind does because your unconscious automatically will do just what it needs to in order to achieve trance.

I am guessing you are refering to a different song.

This one is:

Row, row, row your boat,
Gently down the stream.
Merrily, merrily, merrily,
Life is but a dream.

Most people don't get it the first time. Pass it on.
Submission is not for the weak. Slavehood is a vocation without bounds.

You may allow what you are experiencing right now just to continue.
You may be really curious about just how comfortable you can be.
It's not necessary for you to go deeply into trance.

Postby sandy82 » October 2nd, 2005, 10:58 am

How many iterations are necessary before a behavior shifts from being a "by" to an "of"?

How many "-ions" before someone is considered an "-er", "-or", "-ist"?

How many donations, for example, before one is considered a donor?
How many stamps before one is a philatelist?
How big a collection before one is deemed a collector?

How long before actions are seen as character?

I got 17 for the first five questions, and "Carpe Diem" for the last. How'd I go?

I did not understand the first question.

Really, though, the answer depends on how critical you feel at the time, and is inversely proportional to the number of fries consumed.

This IS a non-sequitur! Everything that jbr and I say in this thread is a non-sequitur. And as Mollie Sugden used to say in the Britcom "Are You Being Served?", I am unanimous in that opinion.

"By" tends to be less personal than "of." For example, "a child of" suggests an infant living in his own home with his own parents. "A child by" could be a foundling...or the product of a milkman who enjoys his morning rounds.

Now, where are my fries? And what the heck did Gough Whitlam really do?

LOL, she generally sits in the sun and then wants a sixth can opened while the remains of five are still there. Pussies are insatiable.

I'm glad to find another fan of AYBS. Your comment made me think that maybe the name should have been "Are You Being Serviced?" I was thinking about Mollie Sugden's screen name, in conjunction with her pampered pussy.

And they could have written in a pet rooster for John Inman.

It would seem that the Aussies got a bit careless with their Prime Ministers during the late 1960s and early 1970s for one reason or another.
If you found Gough Whitlam interesting, have a look into the plight of Harold Holt. He may have drowned, or his fate may have been more sinister....

Hey, Mallic, I like your outlook and sense of humor. No BS.

I also like your post above.

Two small problems.

1. Tg_812 lives in Melbourne.

2. Tg_812 started only one Non-Sequitur thread. I haven't gone to count the number of views and the number of posts in it. But the entire thread is here...absent tg_812's own posts. I found it in "the basement," so to speak. It's posted in this Forum...or was last week. I haven't checked recently.

I still like your post and your delivery. They prove a point that probably has some fancy name in psychology. If a speaker sounds sure of his facts, most people will believe him.

How else would politicians and preachers make a living?

LOL, Mallic, I do recognize a similarity to the old avatar. The "location" appears to be the same. Why not bring back some of the excellent topics you used to post?

If you want to use the old avatar and don't have a copy, let me know. I have one, and if you want it, I know of at least one way to send it to you. I can post it as my avatar, you can right-click on it, save it to file, and then post it as your rightful avatar. Then I can replace mine. EMG may know a more efficient way to make the transfer. If we use my suggested method, we would need to decide on a mutually convenient time for the transfer. Let me know if this interests you.

Here's a "golden oldie" thread you might enjoy. It's from last May. My memory gets faulty, and it's fun to see whether memory matches events. In my case, sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. Here's the gist of the thread.

1. You made some posts. (One is here. The others were earlier on the page. If you'd like them, I can post them or PM them to you.)
2. I responded with "Huh?". My shortest post on record
3. You responded to my post with an apology.
4. You received a "lecture."

Do you remember who "lectured" you?

Mallic/tg812, I may be able to find the next page in this thread. If I can't, I think I remember the general thrust. You replied to dan that you were in Melbourne and that it was afternoon there.

In any event, it's good to have you back, under whatever name you want to use! And let me know whether you want any of the stuff I mentioned. We might even be able to re-create the threads as they were when you left. I don't know how many threads I have. If you're interested, I can check. On second thought, I wouldn't want to impose on EMG to re-create threads, but I'll be happy to send you what I have.

Sandy, please, for the sake of humanity, DO NOT recreat the "Sex and motor oil - some thoughts" PMs or the "Letters to EMG" thread

Edit:

ME: You haven't lived untill you've tasted coffee after lunch.

DAN: Whats the difference?

ME: Its just not the same.

DAN: I know, but whats your point?

ME: What point? That is the point, I think you shouldbe asking yourself that question....

That_guy_812/Mallic: That almost sounds like a heartfelt request from you, but it doesn't ring quite true. It's vastly overdone. In any event, rest easy, I didn't say I was going to re-create the threads. I said that I wouldn't want to impose on EMG with a request to re-create threads. After all, he gets enough requests for free stuff already...and then little thanks.

I have no present plans to publish your old PMs either. But bear in mind that you're asking me not to do what you just did. Only two posts above, you quoted from someone else's private correspondence.

The sub-text here is pure Joel Chandler Harris. With two questions. Who gets thrown into the briar patch? Who wanted to be there in the first place? The Sex and Motor Oil PMs, I remember. But why would there have been a Forum thread called "Letters to EMG"? (Those musings don't exclude the possibility that I have one or the other or both.) If you want to post anything that was in the public domain, I have no problems with that. If you want to post some more PMs that unfairly modify an observer's perception of the person you quote, you'll have to consult your conscience and your estimation of both resources and width of focus.

Three quick items that you and I will understand through our posting at WMM since April.

It pays to have at least some memory. I recalled the general idea of your answer to dan. After lunch...afternoon. It could have been in another thread that you said you were in Melbourne, maybe that you had just walked across a street in Melbourne. If I remember correctly, you made that post at just about the same time as the ones I cited above.

The second item, you can vouch for. We have some new members who don't know the history and lore of the site. One of them can't understand why I sometimes quote a post in case the original disappears. (Maybe he thinks I'm being paranoid, but I only look over my shoulder when there's somebody there. 8O) He doesn't realize that one night all your posts--well over 100 of them--disappeared all at once and without notice. As I understand it, that was done at your request. That left many Forum threads in a state where readers can't fully understand them. I could make you a list of threads in various Forums that a new reader (1) can't fully understand, as a result of these deletions, as opposed to other causes, and (2) doesn't know why these threads lack sequence and logic.

You also asked for every thread you had started to be erased. Those threads included lots of posts made by others, including me and many of the members who posted in the first several months here.

- - - - - -

Moar [sic] to come.

No lecture, that_guy_812. Just a continuing recitation of some shared history among long-tme colleagues. You had some of your say above, and now I have some of mine. This is a level playing field, after all. As for the old times, you remember "sic". One night you made a post, asking what it meant, and dharden told you.

LOL, jbr, hurry up with the fries! I've been waiting a long time!

You are lucky to be in Australia, for more reasons than one. You found A conveniently timed disaster. Here, we--well, the White House--are having a half-dozen disasters a day, and the Bushies don't think any of them are conveniently timed.

Mum's the word. I will keep the leakers under control.

Actually, your contrast of the milkmen and plumbers is a really interesting one. Both have the motive. Which has the better opportunity? On the one hand, the plumber can come, I mean arrive, at mid-morning when the husband, I mean SO or perhaps IO, is at work. But the milkman has the cover to come every day. And that's better and more..er..productive than a solitary one-dawn stand. :P

And don't tell the plumbers' union! While many might rail at their reputation, none would ever finger their fame. 8O

Weakness is a sign of strength. Strength is a sign of commas.
