They do need your penis if you're going to get SRS.
IIRC, if they don't have enough 'material' (penis) to work with, they use some of your lower intestine. You're not going to miss it, but people have apparently reported that it doesn't smell very nice.
So if you are planning on getting that done, you may wish to stay away from that sort of effect.
