Sub blaster effectiveness

I've begun using a sub blaster on my tablet. I have a couple of questions.

I was wondering if black is the best color to use. I tried another color and it attracted my eyes more. The black is easier to ignore and produces a flicking that is easier to ignore.

Does the subconscious still see the messages when the screen is black or dark, or do those get missed?
