A question about hypnosis?

I was wondering wether, while in a trance, you are still able to hear, or be aware of the voice your concentrating on.

So, should I like wake up, or should I already be concious? Because I think a trance is just a really relaxed state of mind right?

though I am no hypnotist I have experienced many levels of trance, some of which I am quite aware in and others are so deep that I am able to recall nothing at all. My answer is short and by no means comprehensive but I must be going.

While in a trance you are very much able to hear, although you may not be consciously aware of the outside world unless there is a loud noise. A trance can be so deep that you recall nothing or so light that you hear almost every word. It is kind of like when you watch TV and your significant other asks you a question. Your ears heard their voice perfectly, but your mind ignored it completely in favor of the TV.
