The line

by justme11

Where do you draw the line? Where do you go from kink into danger? How far do you go before the "to each their own" no longer applies? Is there a line to be drawn? There are alot of files on here that do(and perhaps my last one does). The recent anorexia file, that can be very dangerous indeed. I'm talking fatally dangerous. But the poster made a good point, there's plenty of stuff on this site that really really pushes the "whatever floats your boat" argument to the limit. But does that make the file less dangerous? Difficult questions. I never liked that argument about it being okay if someone wants it, that could be used to justify anything. But there many things about hypnosis that is questionable in their own right. Some would make the argument that addiction triggers for example or hidding things in files without saying they are in there are questionable(I've heard horror stories of people who used files, it's not very pretty indeed) and d/s in general as well. The thing is, when you get into something as serious as making someone anorexic, everything has risks. But that's really stretching it.

Argue the same about Alcohol and Absinthe. End of the day if someone wants it someone can get it, granted there are always limits but in a media/genre that defines 'edge play' this is going not have a great deal of them. Much like any other products the responsibility lies with the user, if there are clear warnings (which this file has) then if they want to it's their choice, there has to be reasons for it (rarely good ones) but still their decision to make :)

Good point about alcohol. People like edge I guess. This wasn't a pulpit pounding speach, you do what you want. I wanted to put that out there to hear what others thought on the matter.

What is the line between kink and danger? When the thrills you get are stronger than your own sense of self-preservation, I suppose. Everyone has a different point of "Uh oh, I'm in trouble!" and it's the same on Warp My Mind as when you're walking down a dark alley at night.

I'm glad that someone has opened this kind of debate in an open-minded way :) . In fact I could post a dissertation length post with my opinions on the subject, because it is something that bothers me sometimes... but I won't bore you that much! I will say that I'm very glad that there is a site like WMM where censorship is, let us say, in bad taste. It makes up for the internet mainstream desperately struggling to turn every online experience into a sanitised consumer product. Safety is important to the human mind and body, no doubt, but adventure is good for the human soul! I would be interested to see how this discussion would go on the forums, where posting is more flexible. Z
