Looking Around

by SecretScribe

So, it's been a little while since I first joined the site. I got really excited at first and dove into the plethora of files. (The free ones, of course. Just because money may indirectly grow from trees, doesn't mean I'm rolling in it.) After the initial euphoria wore off, I figured I should be more practical about all of this. I don't know if we're allowed to give shout outs (I would imagine most things are allowed here as long as they're not disrespectful), but hexagon77 has been pretty awesome about giving me an introduction to this new world. He has also been kind enough to ignore the fact that I use that phrase all too often. For right now, I'm doing research and scoping the scene, if you will. I have to figure out more about how hypnosis works, how to use it, and how to stay safe, before I can feel completely comfortable. The step after that would be to find out what I'm interested in. That'll be hard, and I'm not quite sure how to go about it without testing the waters here and there. The dangerous part about that, as hexagon77 pointed out, is that signals could get mixed. That makes a lot of sense, and the last thing I need is to go to class pretending I'm a flying monkey. Especially since I haven't had time to make the costume, yet. =P My current area of focus is text hypnosis. I don't know if it'll work for me, but somehow I feel that I will be more comfortable with it since I can actually see what I'm "absorbing." Granted, there are ways to get around these defenses (that's kind of the point of hypnosis), but I can at least tell myself it's safer. So, that's where I am for now.

You can't be made to do anything you really don't want to do and if going to class pretending that you are a flying monkey would embarrass you then you probably won't do it. Only really good subjects with tons of training could possibly come close to that. The trick is to state exactly the sort of things you are interested in to the hypnotist and build a rapport of trust. If you are not sure of what you are after the try an induction or deepener or otherwise a file that intrigues you which wouldn't cause you any real harm. Also, you be surprised how effective text trances can be sometimes. You don't have to close your eyes in order to be in a trance. Words hold a lot of power and you can go into a trance-like state just by reading if the tist comes about it in the right way. Heck, you might even find these words fairly relaxing to read. Be safe, but have fun and let your limits be known.
