Trance isn't how they say it is. I think that Richard Feynman's essay on hypnosis was the best summary of trance I've ever seen. When you go under, you expect blankness and acceptance. Instead, with every suggestion, there is the concious possibility of resistance. Sometimes I feel that the only reason I can respond to hypnosis is psychosomatic. But then, when you think about it, that counts too. Honestly, I'm not sure if hypnosis really works like the box says.
